Frank Collict Workshop 23rd February 2019
February’s workshop involved a really interesting technique of ‘line and wash’ that was tutored by Cardiff based professional artist Frank Collict. Surprisingly he used a sharpened matchstick in a bamboo cane and Indian ink to do the line element; this produced an almost charcoal effect. He then made watercolour washes look so easy with big speedy brush movements and an absolute minimum rework of any wash he “just let the pigment do the work”, producing a stunning piece of art. SGA members were then encouraged to have a go with some excellent results. It’s a technique that lends itself to many mediums and particularly good for capturing the moment in the great outdoors.
