Visit to Arundells, The Close, on Sunday, August 17th, 2025
A popular Swing Band was performing in the Close, that was packed with families and friends enjoying a sunny afternoon. For some of us though it was nice to enter into the garden space of Arundells away from the crowds but still able to hear the music.
With views of the Cathedral and its towering spire above Arundells mature trees, the river Avon at the end of the garden, herbaceous borders, and an attractive house, Arundells’ garden provides an excellent space for sketchers.
Birds of several kinds were active in the surrounding trees providing extra interest for some bird watchers in the group. Whilst on the ground a delightful baby robin with its brown speckled chest daubed with a splash of orangey red, (signs of the red breast yet to come) hopped about besides us. A lovely painting companion.
A relaxing August afternoon in an English garden enjoyed by all who took part.
