Visit to the River Avon footpath, Salisbury

I was looking forward to our last outdoor sketching meeting, envisaging wonderful Autumn colours in the trees along the river bank.
Sadly, the afternoon was wet and windy and pretty dismal and I doubted anybody would come along to sketch, so I was very pleased indeed when two stalwart members arrived in wet weather gear to join me.
The Waitrose cafe outside seating area provided a good space for them to draw the exotic plants there, whilst I kept dry under a nearby bridge to draw the bank opposite.
After a while the dampness in the air seeped into our bones, so we welcomed tea and cake and arty chats in the warm interior of the cafe.
A happy ending to our 2025 year of sketching.
